Scholarships

OPPD offers a number of scholarships that help students achieve their educational goals. The following provides an overview on each of those scholarships.


J. M. Harding Scholarship

A $1,500 scholarship, awarded to a student in the College of Engineering Technology at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The scholarship is funded by proceeds from OPPD's annual J.M. OPPD J. M. Harding Scholarship

A $1,500 scholarship awarded to a student in the College of Business Administration at Creighton University. The scholarship is funded through OPPD's annual Swigart Golf Invitational, and is presented at the J.M. Harding Award luncheon. The Fred and Mary Jo Petersen Scholarship

The $2,000 Fred and Mary Jo Petersen Scholarship is offered yearly to communications students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A competitive process for selecting students who meet strict academic guidelines is administered by university faculty. Power Drive Scholarship

The Power Drive Scholarship is awarded yearly to two student participants in OPPD's electric vehicle Power Drive competition. The two $1,000 scholarships encourage students to further their education and to promote careers in automotive technology, electronics, engineering or physics. Anyone who is participating in the Power Drive program during the current academic school year, who will be graduating from high school in the spring and who intends to enroll in an electronics, automotive technology, engineering or physics program at an accredited trade school, community college, college or university is eligible to apply. Line Technician Scholarship

The Line Technician Scholarship is offered every two years to candidates in the line technician program at Metropolitan Community College. The scholarship pays for two years tuition provided the student maintains a 2.5 GPA. This scholarship, valued at approximately $2000, is administered by the Metropolitan Community College Foundation.
